Colonel William M. Fenton, served in the Civil War from 1861 to 1863. Most of the time he was in command of the 8th Michigan Infantry. This diary is a log of his days with them and items pertaining to it.

Please note that this was digitally transcribed using papers which were typed with an older typewritter, and then copied with an old copier. If you are familiar with old typewritters it is sometimes very difficult to read the letters due to the ribbon not being in the best shape or the keys being off, as also the old copiers made horrible copies in half the work they did.. Due to this there may be errors in words on the pages. If you notice any, please contact us so we may make the corrections. Every effort has been made to keep it as accurate as possible. Some of these pages were almost impossible to read!
